Am I understanding this correctly? The Pope ABSOLVED Jews?

The actual word used was exoneration, not absolution. But neither word has any value or meaning to any Jew, we don,t need the Pope to tell us- forgive us-or for that matter speak up on our behalf- we know now, as we always have that we did not crucify Jesus Christ. I think he has alot of nerve quite frankly. What's the "pay off" for his "exoneration?" and why Is he saying this now? He ought to exonerate himself from having been a member of the Nazi Youth Movement.
