Am i too tall to wear short shorts? PLEASE ANSWER?

I am twelve and I am 5'9 about. Really tall. So my mom says I'm really leggy. If I wear shorts i don't want them to look as if I'm wear little underwear. When I say short shorts I don't mean gross skank get ups like I mean upper middle thigh. Thank chu!
