How to handle my parents/boyfriend at grad dinner?

Tomorrow is my grade twelve grad and my parents and my boyfriend and I are going out for dinner after convocation. I've always had a close circle of a few friends, but I'm not big on the whole 'dance' or 'banquet' things so we're just going out for dinner instead. I'm really nervous about this because even though my boyfriend is a great guy, my dad doesn't think so. My parents are divorced and he lives in a different city so he hasn't had the time opportunity to get to know what a great guy my boyfriend is like my mom has. Also, my boyfriend and I met through church and are very religious, something my dad hates, he's a bit older than me, and in general there's a lot of discomfort with him there. He tends to be openly judgmental in these sorts of situations, and I was wondering if anyone has any tips for how I can direct conversation away from anything that may make things more awkward than they already are.
